Waiting on Wednesday (#52): Nightfall

Waiting on Wednesday  is a weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that booklovers can't wait to get their hands on!

Title: Nightfall
Author: Jake Halpern
Series: Stand-alone
Genre: Young Adult, Horror
Expected Publication Date: September 22nd, 2015 (ebook) / October 13th, 2015 (Hardcover, Amazon)

On Marin’s island, sunrise doesn’t come every twenty-four hours—it comes every twenty-eight years. Now the sun is just a sliver of light on the horizon. The weather is turning cold and the shadows are growing long.

Because sunset triggers the tide to roll out hundreds of miles, the islanders are frantically preparing to sail south, where they will wait out the long Night.

Marin and her twin brother, Kana, help their anxious parents ready the house for departure. Locks must be taken off doors. Furniture must be arranged. Tables must be set. The rituals are puzzling—bizarre, even—but none of the adults in town will discuss why it has to be done this way.

Just as the ships are about to sail, a teenage boy goes missing—the twins’ friend Line. Marin and  Kana are the only ones who know the truth about where Line’s gone, and the only way to rescue him is by doing it themselves. But Night is falling. Their island is changing.

And it may already be too late.

Why am I waiting?

So, technically this is already out. To be exact, it came out yesterday but only as a the ebook and since I'm waiting for the physical edition - which, according to my Amazon will be released on October 13th - I have to wait a little longer. Super unfair. I know TBD already has it but it's more expensive, so yeah I'll wait a little longer. Buuuuuuut don't you agree with me that it sounds AWESOME? I'm sooo excited to read this and just hope, hope, hope it'll be as good as I expect it to be!

  10. This one does look good! I didn't realize the hardcover came out on a different date. How weird! Come to think of it, I feel like I saw this on the shelf at B&N today... but maybe that was something that just looked similar? I hope you enjoy it! :D

  11. Ooh this does look EXTREMELY exciting! I love horror (I recently reviewed Rin Chupeco's The Suffering, which I adored), and I've been seeing this one around a lot! I'm probably going to wait for a few more trusted reviewers to read this before setting off to buy it, though. I hope it doesn't disappoint you, Yvonne! :)
