Waiting on Wednesday (#35): The Petpost Secret

Waiting on Wednesday  is a weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that booklovers can't wait to get their hands on!

Title: The Petpost Secret
Author:
Series: Stand-alone
Genre: Fiction
(Expected) Publication Date: August, 2014

Squirrel is different. But not in the way he thinks.

Though he is just thirteen, Squirrel is the PetPost slave—the last slave in the animal town of Bimmau. Every morning, he puts on his PetPost uniform and delivers the mail for his lazy mongoose boss. But when Squirrel swigs some forbidden wine at a wedding, his mother's voice speaks to him. 'Start your journey that leads to long-lost Brittle’s Key,' she urges. 'Go find, my
son, your destiny.'

Brittle's Key—with the power to set him free and turn anyone in the land into a slave—can be Squirrel's. But, to find the key, he must find and sip three mysterious liquids. With his friend Des and a crow, Azulfa, he sets off on a dangerous quest. He travels from the walled city of bees to the fireless mice tea-estate to the treacherous desert, while fleeing the savage Kowa army and outsmarting the vicious Colonel who wants the key for himself.

Will Squirrel succeed? For not only his fate, but also the fate of the land hangs in the balance ...

Why am I waiting?

Okay, so technically this is already released (for almost a year now, wow!) but I only recently found out about it and think it deserves a bit of attention, no? I'm in love with the cover - just look at it! Isn't it absolutely GORGEOUS? I hope I can get to it soon because I like the blurb a lot and it's something I haven't read yet - definitely interesting!

Have any of you read or heard about this book yet? Any opinions on it? :)

  1. This oddly reminds me of the movie Fantastic Mr.Fox! It's so out there and different from real world that it sounds great - good pick thanks for sharing!
