{REVIEW} Confess by Colleen Hoover

Title: Confess
Author: Colleen Hoover
Series: Stand-alone
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Publication: March 10th, 2015
Rating: ★★★★★

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Oh My God. I want to say this over and over again. Not only because it's exactly how I feel but also because I just love Colleen Hoover but more specifically Owen - I'll come to that in a minute, don't worry. I just don't understand it. How could I wait so long to read Colleen's novels? I mean, I only read Maybe Someday before that but it's one of my alltime favorite books (if not even THE one) and Confess only made me love her more. She has the ability to catch me with only a prologue or the first chapter and from then on I'm hooked. Confess wasn't any different.

Before I mention anything about the characters and the story and all the other important stuff, I want to talk about the confessions in the book. I liked the idea of it a lot actually - and considering they were all true and written by real people - made them even more intriguing. I especially loved one positive confession but was also shocked when I read one really, really horrible one ... and the art. Holy stars! I just completely fell in love with it and can't stop thinking about how beautiful all the paintings look. They're just incredible. ♥

"I tilt my face toward her neck and inhale the scent of her. If her smell had a color, it would be pink. Sweet and innocent with a touch of roses."

But now onto Owen! I fell in love with him. It's simple as that, yes. He's a painter and also charismatic, funny, understanding, supportive, obviously handsome and so much more. I could go on with this forever and I'd still have to say something about him. The way he looked at Auburn and interacted with her ... what he thought of her, it was all just so beautiful and honest. I loved that a lot! The same goes for Auburn and her opinion of Owen - it's equally fascinating to read what she thinks of him and I couldn't agree more with her. Auburn was really likeable too and I admired her a lot because of everything she had been through so far - which was just terrible and unfair. She stood up for the things most important to her and fought for them, no matter what it cost her. I think she's a great character and I liked her a lot!

I don't want to say to much about the storyline, just that I liked and enjoyed it but of course it was nothing new - nothing we haven't read or heard about, but I was totally okay with that. It still kept me interested and also never got boring, so that's definitely good. Plus, Colleen Hoover just manages to grab your interest with basically everything - no matter what she writes, I'm sure it'll be awesome and people will love it.

"Tonight, everyone's focus is on my art, but my focus is on her. She's the most interesting piece in this entire room."

Overall, I think, this is a great novel. I loved it to pieces and enjoyed every little second I spent reading it. It's just sad that it's kind of short ... I mean, 306 pages is already a good amount but I just rushed through this because I couldn't stop reading and didn't want to put it aside, therefore it took me only about one and a half days to finish it - but those were definitely well-spent hours! If you're interested in some awesome Colleen Hoover Romance and want to fall in love with another fictional character (as if I don't already love too many of them, ugh), buy the book and READ it! :)

  1. AGHH THIS GOT ME REALLY EXCITED, YVONNE!!!!!!

Why are you doing this to me? I have a ton of books on my TBR already :(, but I will read this book soon enough, I can't not read it. It's Colleen Hoover! Although I also haven't read anything but Maybe Someday by her, but it's one of my all time favorite books.

Your review was great! I felt your connection and admiration to the characters and that's the base of a good book. I also love the quotes that you've picked out.. SO FREAKING CUTE. Especially the last one, it reminded me of Eleanor and Park when he said that “Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.” - That's my all time favorite quote as well. :)

Your review made me so happy, hahaha <3

    1. ME too! Actually I didn't even want to buy this ... but Melissa preordered it and I saw someone on Instagram too and THEN I just had to get it, no matter what. I bought it without even knowing what it is about but damnit, that was definitely the right decision! And the art inside is so FREAKING beautiful! <3

Indeed! There are so many awesome quotes and scenes in this book but I had to settle for just 2 quotes, although I could have easily picked more, haha. :D

Thank you, love! *hugs you tight* I'm glad you liked it and that it made you curious - I NEED to know your thoughts on it as well! I'm sure you'll enjoy it - at least I hope so! ♥

  2. I have yet to read my first *full* Colleen Hoover book. I do own Ugly Love, which I should be buddy reading at some point with a friend. But Confess sounds amazing too! And the cover is beautiful!
